At 11 a.m. Bitter, tired,
A near-broken man, Chamberlain broadcast
To the people. We were at war at last.
His tone was pitiful, grim and downcast,
“But I am confident that right will prevail”.
He faced a challenge on a massive scale.
Regrets and heartache were to no avail.
